Part‑Time (65% Position)

Silicon Valley International School (INTL) is pleased to announce an opening for a part‑time Teacher. This position involves the instruction of Art, Music, and Media Skills within the Elementary School (Primary Years Program 50%) and Visual Arts in the Upper School (Middle Years Program, 15%), specifically within the German Programs.

Summary of the Position

The Elementary School Media Skills Teacher, within the German Program, plays a vital role in fostering creativity, expression, and inquiry through the disciplines of Media Skills (Library), Art, and Music—all taught in German. This multifaceted position also includes providing additional classroom support in German language classrooms as needed. The specialist collaborates with homeroom teachers and subject‑area colleagues to ensure continuity of language acquisition and alignment with the Primary Years Program (PYP) framework.

They support student growth by developing engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that promote creativity and critical thinking. They create a welcoming, well‑organized learning environment and contribute to interdisciplinary units of inquiry. As a member of a bilingual, multicultural community, the teacher values collaboration and is adaptable to working across languages and cultures.

This teacher must demonstrate commitment to INTL’s mission and guiding principles, be experienced working with elementary‑age children, and possess a warm, flexible, and student‑centered approach. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a dynamic and engaging curriculum that fosters a love of the German language and culture among our elementary students. The successful candidate will be a passionate educator who is fluent in German.

The role is currently not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Elementary School Teacher, The Role Includes (50%):

• Teaching Media Skills (Library), Art, and Music in German in elementary school in German
• Collaborating with colleagues to develop inquiry‑based, PYP‑aligned lessons
• Supporting German language classrooms as needed to promote continuity and student support
• Documenting student learning and contributing to progress reports
• Participating in faculty meetings and professional development

Upper School Visual Art Teacher (MYP: 15%)

• Work closely with the MYP coordinator and colleagues to implement a relevant, challenging, and rigorous Visual Art curriculum
• Develop and deliver engaging, inquiry‑based art lessons aligned with the MYP Arts objectives.
• Foster a supportive, inclusive, and creative environment that encourages student voice, choice, and risk‑taking.
• Manage materials, displays of student work, and safety in the art studio.
• Support students in building confidence and technical skills in a range of media.
• Adapt instruction for diverse learners and support students with varying needs and backgrounds.
• Participate in collaborative planning with other members of the Arts department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and minimum 2 years teaching experience required; Master’s degree preferred
• Native or near‑native fluency in German
• Proficiency in English to communicate with colleagues, parents, and to write report cards
• Experience teaching elementary‑aged children in Art, Music, or Library preferred
• Familiarity with the PYP framework and/or bilingual education is strongly preferred.
• Authorization to work in the United States

Compensation and Benefits

Our compensation is based on education and years of experience. The annual salary for this 65% FTE teaching position for the 2025–2026 school year will be prorated based on a full‑time equivalent; the range is $79,903 (BA Step 3) to $123,672 (PhD Step 23).

Eligible for prorated full‑time equivalent (FTE) compensation during three faculty breaks: Winter, Spring, and Fall, as well as the two‑week holiday at the end of the year, in addition to 40 hours or 5 days of paid sick leave.
